Upgrading Packages

Now that I found that I have openssl-0.9.7a-2 installed, is there a way
to upgrade this to a later version like 0.9.7c version of openssl?

I tried to do an rm -e on the openssl-0.9.7a-2 packaged but got hit by
dependencies.
