This is similar to what happened to me (See problems reinstalling
Fedora/Grub thread). The advice given previously on this thread worked great
(see http://www.gnu.org/software/grub) . For me:
rootnoverify (hd0,0)
makeactive
chainloader +1
boot
worked, but I have 1 HD and Windows is my first partition.
What I am curious about is how I got here and how to fix it for the future.
I would like to (a) get grub working so that I don't have to type these
arcane commands and (b) be able to create and boot from a Linux partition.
A friend at work recommended that instead of using Disk Druid that I have
Fedora create the partitions automagically. I am a little worried that this
will step on my working partitions, but have been assured that the install
default is to dual boot and preserve otherwise working partitions. I'll let
you know, but would appreciate any advice.

Hi everybody, I have a big problem! I need your help!
I had Windows XP (NTFS) and Red Hat v9.0 Shrike (EXT3) on one hard drive
dual boot (menu). I tried to create a fat32 partition on my Windows XP and
Linux hard drive, so I did create it with Partition Magic 8. When everything
is seamed perfect, when partition magic finished creating the fat32
partition it restarted then I go this prompt in dos: grub> I don't have any
dual boot (menu) now how can I boot to Windows or Linux? Any Help will be
grateful!
Thank You!
