Thanks Michael. I read the section on UT2003. This issue was not listed
there. I guess I'm saying this is a NEW issue relating to the Fedora Core
1 release of some "possibly" outdated library files.

As for the cp files failure that was an issue I did get resolved. It had
to do with fingerprints on the first disc. I cleaned it off and, although
the installer gave me the error message and the beginning and an error
message at the end, the installer actually seems to have completed copying
    the files.

Please, if you would, if you are here to help, read the first error
    message I typed.

The other issues with copying and pasting of text are a result of a bug in
Pan and/or the API for the desktop that developers use when writting for
    either gnome or KDE.

I work in the industry selling/repairing computer hardware/software issues
and am very familiar with computers, OSes, and networking. I've been a
network admin of a very large nationwide organization and the Lead tech in
a worldwide firm under the auspices of Thompson Professional Publishing.
The point being I'm not new in anyway to issues and what it takes to get
    them resolved.

This does seem to be a new error. I hope that it will be addressed soon.
Unfortuantely it affects one notable game which is one of only a handful
that are commercially developed and released for the Linux platform.
Having distro's break the install and execution of titles by notable firms
should be telling as to why linux has failed to achieve its' true
    potential on the desktop.

I'm not actually trying to get it installed to play the game. I'm here to
test out installers and determine if we are on the right track. It just
turns out that UT2003 is a game I have on hand that supposedly works under
Linux and I hoped to gague its' installation performance as well as the
performance of the game play. I have 4 machines that run other OSes that
are more then capable of playing the game. So far, though, I have been
    disappointed.

    Thanks again,

    Jim
