Most likely, you don't have the analog audio cable running
from the CD drive to the sound card. Losedows uses digital
extraction to play CDs, while Linux usually uses the analog
cable from the drive to the sound card. There are ways to
do real-time digital extraction on Linux, but I'm not
conversant on the exact method. A search of
google.com/linux or groups.google.com should show the
details from earlier answers. IIRC, it involves piping the
WAV data from cdparanoia (or other extractor) to the 'play'
program.
