I wonder if SCO's executives have another share sale coming up soon.
They pre-programmed the dates on which they sell shares. I assume this
was done in order to avoid being accused of insider trading. So,
instead of using their insider knowledge to predict stock market
movements, they use their chief weapon (the outlandish press release)
to push up the stock before a planned sale.
And it's so cheap for SCO to do this too! They don't _actually_ have
to sue Google, just hint that they might. Even now they may get a
few weeks worth of publicity out of gradually becoming more and
more explicit about the details of this proposed suit, before it
is actually filed.
And if somehow SCO found themselves in the position where they had
to file, it's incredibly cheap for Google to swat away. Their
lawyer just has to say "there are outstanding issues regarding SCO's
rights (if any) to the linux kernel; please delay this action
pending a resolution of the IBM case" and the suit will disappear
for 18 months.
Nick.
