Printer behaves strange, howto configure?

Hi, I've got a Hp Deskjet 400, but i can't print anything :(
When i configure the printer , evrything goes fine, but when i print a
testpage there's a lot of crap displayed: just some black lines
(looks like a kind of cpu-load graph) Anyone nkows a solution for
this? I need to be able to print something very bad... Thanks in
