Thanks for helping me out with this so much. Got to the prompt and I see

This is what I have tryed so far with nothing working. I can bet I am
doing something so dumb that it would be funny to a lot of people but
for some reason I can not get it to work.

[neal@localhost neal]$ cd /home/neal
[neal@localhost neal]$ rpm -ivh up2date-3.1.23.2-1.src.rpm
error: cannot create %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES
[neal@localhost neal]$ cd/home/neal
bash: cd/home/neal: No such file or directory
[neal@localhost neal]$ cd /home/neal rpm -ivh up2date-3.1.23.2-1.src.rpm
[neal@localhost neal]$ cd
[neal@localhost neal]$
