OK ,if you're certain that you've got the right IP address for the
router, then this might be a router config issue - some of them
(including mine!) don't like routing for IP addreesses they haven't
issued. This can be fixed, but it means looking at the router (if that's
what's going on).

That's something to worry about - what happens?

I'd run Ethereal & see what traffic comes down the wire. If you've got
other machines on the network, you should at least see some ARP traffic,
and that will verify that things are getting through. Try pinging the
router, etc. & see what happens.
