Thanks for the input. Is there anyone on this board, or anywhere else who
is stupid enough to throw away a computer that runs every other OS just
fine, and spend $400 for new hardware to run Linux? It ain't that great an
OS for me to invest in an upgrade.

I do appreciate the POV, but the idea of upgrading just to use the
software comes straight from Microsoft, and should not be a Linux solution
at all.

I agree that its old, but its not slow unless I run Linux on it, so I
suppose the solution is simple: Don't use Linux.

Perhaps Linux is not the grass roots system that it once was, and has
become a mini microsoft? Is linux going to be obsoleting hardware and
older software with each new release now? They did it with HPFS, (unless
you do it yourself) so I guess that might be the direction.

Lacking a broadband connection, I would have to buy other Distros, perhaps
only to find out they have a problem with my machine as well. No chance.
