Hi,
I have fedora installed and like it. The yum update works well, graphics
and sound good too.
I have some odd behaviour that I'd like help with if anyone cares to
offer advice.
I originally used the Mozilla browser that came with the pkg. No probs
there. I found that if I clicked on a URL in an email message in Kmail I
got Konqueror as a browser. For several reasons this is unsatisfactory.
How can I change the behaviour of Kmail to open the browser of my
choice, currently Firebird?
And on the subject or browsers, I now get Mozilla if I click on a x.html
file within Nautilus, Firebird if I click on the icon then pick "run the
program" in the ensuing dialog box, and Konqueror from Kmail. I would
really like to understand what is going on. The inconsistency is not
unbearable but it takes away from productive work time.
I installed a LG combo CDRW/DVDRW drive into the system and have yet to
use it as anything other than a CDROM drive. The drive came packaged
with M$ software only. What program would I use to copy a CD or DVD?
I want to be able to download mp3s and play them and post them to a
site. I have appropriate rights to the IP but it seems XMMS won't play
them. Is this a bug or am I incompetent or what? RH9 used to play them
ok, so did Mandrake.
I use a digital camera (a Fuji Finepix S5000) that works ok. I could not
get gphoto to recognize it but I can mount it manually and get the files
off so that's ok now. It will also take .avi files. I can download them
from the camera ok but can't see how to play them. Suggestions?
I also have had a tedious and unproductive time trying to get a flash
player configured so I can see web site video content. Does anyone have
experience getting this working? And finally, I routinely access a news
site (cbc.ca) that has audio and video clips in Real Audio format.
Suggestions about how to integrate an appropriate plug in much appreciated.
Thanks very much.
Dave
