You've heard about mounting and that's a good thing to learn.
However, I suggest you look into "mtools" which provide DOS-like
tools so that you can manipulate a FAT-formatted floppy. For
example:
mcopy file a:
will copy "file" to the A: drive (first save your file unto the
hard drive, of course). Try "man mtools".
Mounting floppies is rather dangerous as one tends to forget
to unmount and just pops out the floppy (especially a recent
Windows newbie). CDs and DVDs don't really have this problem
since the drive won't eject if it's mounted, but being mechanical
in nature floppies don't have this safeguard.
