Bryan,

Windows affects other computer without you knowing. If you have worked
in a ISP or know someone in this industry, you can have first hand
experience about this: a worm affects one Win machine, then do a
scanning on the internet for other win machine, and thus generate a lot
of useless traffic. And win updates do not help a lot, because they
patched holes after holes were discovered.

But of course, blind optimism is a way to true (computing) happiness.
