File Editing in RH9

Hi
    I have what I hope to be a simple task that I want to be done
automatically, and I have searched and googled my fingers off with no luck!
    I need to create a script that will remove certain lines from a file
with out human intervention! If anyone has any tips links or idea's it would
be greatly appreciated!
