Alsa OSS emulation on Fedora Core 1

Hi all.

I installed ALSA to FC1 (kernel 2174) from freshrpms.net. Alsa works ok
but the OSS emulation doesn't. XMMS starts playing ok, but no sound ever
comes from my speakers. ID games (rtcw, et, quake3) state on log files
that 'sound system is muted'. My card is Hercules Fortissimo III 7.1
with CS4624 chip (cs46xx Alsa driver). All mixers (aumix, gamix,
alsamixer) show that all channels are ok and not muted.

Anyone got any ideas?

Br,
