Download Knoppix http://www.knoppix.org It's a bootable Linux cd. Doesn't
touch the hard drive unless you ask it too.

Stick it in the cd, boot to Knoppix. Mount the hard drive. Blow away the
admin password. Reboot to a system with no root password, set one, move
one. Then, realizing how easy Knoppix was to use... ;)

Seriously, a good bootable Linux CD can save from this sort of things. Go
check out the recent Slashdot thread on bootable linux distros.
