I don't know if this will help or not. On the IBM AIX machines (IBM's
brand of UNIX) there is a procedure to install a kernell update for
the installation of the Oracle 8i data base. From what I gather the
kernell is some kind of a non resident kernel patch that is needed when
using the Oracle database.
Perhaps the kernell is the same for the RPM that you are installing.
I suggest that you read the instruction very carefully. On the oracle
install instructions the install kernell was just one line indented
10 spaces. The first time through I blew right on past it as I thought
is said kernel. It wasn't until I re read the instructions that I
noticed it said kernell.
