All,
I have reinstalled RH9 today and got the system fully updated. I did
an "everything" install and yet when I try to use a KDE session, I
get the "kdeinit error, check you installation". I NEVER got this
with RH8 but have gotten it with both the Fedora Core 1 install on
DVD, and the 3 disk RH 9 install from RH. I also noticed I don't have
any of the extras in my programs list for the KDE proggies like I did
in RH8. I have researched as much as I could and here is what I found
with KDE.
[root@amdrhlinux9 root]# updatedb
[root@amdrhlinux9 root]# locate kdeinit | grep bin
/usr/bin/kdeinit_shutdown
/usr/bin/kdeinit
/usr/bin/kdeinit_wrapper
/usr/lib/kde2-compat/bin/kdeinit_shutdown
/usr/lib/kde2-compat/bin/kdeinit
/usr/lib/kde2-compat/bin/kdeinit_wrapper
[root@amdrhlinux9 root]# echo $PATH
/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/xess6/bin:/root/bin
[root@amdrhlinux9 root]# which kdeinit
/usr/bin/kdeinit
[root@amdrhlinux9 etc]# more ld.so.conf
/usr/kerberos/lib
/usr/X11R6/lib
/usr/lib/mysql
/usr/lib/qt2/lib
/usr/lib/qt-3.0/lib
I am not sure why KDE won't work and all the KDE programs are not
showing up, but I would SO appreciate it if someone could help me fix
this. Thank you very much in advance!! Have a great day!!
