Hey,

        I believe that the RHAT denial of mp3 actually displays an error
message stating such doesn't it?

Does your sound work elsewhere? I have had this problem with xmms, and
the above poster Amit has it right from what I know. I have however
also had this problem when something plain got pooched, so I uninstalled
the RPM's and reinstalled, everything worked well after that. Hope this
helps!
