Have you selected the correct monitor and graphics card type?
Is your graphics card able to display the settings you've selected?
What hardware do you have? If you tell us what gfx card and monitor you
have, you may find someone has the same hardware and can help you better.

What kind of changes are you making? Give examples.
The Numlock key is usually off by default on boot. You could do a Google
and get plenty of options to fix the problem for you. One such suggestion
