Thank you all so very much for taking the time to help me out.
In answer to your suggestions and questions :
1. I do not want to use the Controls on the monitor to adjust the image size
in Linux. This same machine is running Win2000 and WinXP in addition to
Linux and
the image size is perfect in both of Windows cases.
2. I am using Kickstart to adjust the settings in X Configurator. Like I
said I tried closing the window with the "x" and tried saving the settings
in a file kc.cfg and in
both cases re-started X but to no avail.
3. The NUM LOCK is set to ON in the BIOS.
4. My video card is the Nvidia 2 MX with 32MB RAM and the monitor is NEC
Accusync 95F. Both are correctly detected by Linux. In Windows, my settings
are 1024x768 and 32bit High Color and the image is perfect.
