Strange Fedora 2 to Windows problem

I'm a five-month Linux rookie running two Fedora systems, an older system
running FC1 and a new one running FC2. Both are networked via wireless
with a Windows 2000 machine, but for some reason, the FC2 machine goes out
to lunch whenever I try to actually access the Windows machine.

I have it mounted properly, and a df command even provieds information on
Used and Available blocks, but typing "dir" or trying to change into a
subdirectory causes the FC2 machine to sit and spin its wheels. The FC1
machine, on the other hand, can read and write files no problem.

Any suggestions? Of course, the ideal thing would be to network the two
Fedora machines together, but I haven't been able to do that either. I
know SWAT is supposed to work, but I get nothing except "The connection
was refused when attempting to contact localhost: 901."

    Please post replies here, thanks.
