ALSA install question

I just fixed my FC2/Audigy sound problem by upgrading ALSA from version 1.03
to 1.06. Now, since I installed the software from source, kpackage and
Synaptic both still report that I have version 1.03 installed. I guess what
I want to know is: If, at some later date, I download and install a package
that relies on ALSA 1.06 being installed, and RPM reports 1.03, will that
cause problems?
