trouble with digikam

hi there!
i'm having some trouble getting digikam to work. i'm using FC3 with all
updates, compiled libkexif-0.2.1, libkipi-0.1 (wich digikam depends on) and
digikam-0.7.1-b2 without problems and it worked in the beginning. after
installing updates for FC3, digikam refuses to start:

digikam: error while loading shared libraries: libdigikam.so.0: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

a symbolic link to libdigikam.so.0.0.0 does the work, but it seems after
each /sbin/ldconfig it disappears again. ldconfig has the following output:

/sbin/ldconfig: Input file /usr/lib/libkexif.so.1.0.0 not found.

/sbin/ldconfig: Input file /usr/lib/libkipi.so.0.0.0 not found.

/sbin/ldconfig: Input file /usr/lib/libdigikam.so.0.0.0 not found.

...but the files are there.

any suggestions?
