Hi,
I'm installing Red Hat Linux 9 in my slave HD (master installed with
Windows 2000) using GRUB. Installation stuck at the point when
rsh-server-0.17-14 being extracted. GRUB reported that package
couldn't be extract from CD probably due to missing file or corrupted
package file.
I can get another copy of rsh-server-0.17-14 (more accurately
speaking, whole CD ISO file) from ftp.cse.cuhk.edu.hk (accessed via
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3). Unfortunately, the newly burnt CD
couldn't make RH installation proceed --- installation still stuck at
this file with the same error message. Yet, I could copy all files
(include file of this package) from burnt CD back to HD.
To check whether the problem was due to the CD's quality, I burnt
another CD using another brand CD. The problem repeated.
At this point, I doubted the downloaded package was corrupted. I
intended to get it from another site. However, I have no way to verify
the downloaded rsh-server-0.17-14 is not being corrupted before I burn
a CD and repeat the installation. Could anyone suggest where could I
get an uncorrupted copy of rsh-server-0.17-14
(rsh-server-0.17-14.i386.rpm) so that I don't need to keep on cloning
new CDs to try finding one uncorrupted copy.
Besides, could I bypass this package and go on installing other
packages ? I couldn't think of a solution yet.
Tks:(
