I have to be careful to start with DOS, that's a bit before my time. I
started out with W3.11 and have never studied DOS.

OK, this helps! I managed to crash the entire system, and indeed, I cannot
come any further than the command shell. Now I now how to start searching
for solutions.

I understand from other replies that Fedora would be the way to go. I first
use some time trying to fix my Red Hat installation using your
recommendations.
But I suppose that using Fedora might actually be an improvement.
I won't have time earlier than coming weekend. Now I have to prepare some
brochure/poster and some CD for my work.
Thanks for your help!
