Hi Lenard,

Here is the message of k3b : when I start it !!
--------------------------------------------------
cdrecord does not run with root privileges

It is highly recommended to configure cdrecord to run with root privileges.
Only then cdrecord runs with high priority which increases the overall
stability of the burning process. Apart from that it allows changing the
size of the used burning buffer. A lot of user problems could be solved this
way. This is also true when using SuSE's resmgr.

Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem.

cdrdao does not run with root privileges

It is highly recommended to configure cdrdao to run with root privileges to
increase the overall stability of the burning process.

Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem.

Unable to find dvd+rw-format executable

K3b uses dvd+rw-format to format DVD-RWs and DVD+RWs.

Solution: Install the dvd+rw-tools package.

No support for ATAPI with cdrdao

You will not be able to use all your reading devices as copy sources since
there is at least one not configured to use SCSI emulation and your system
does not support ATAPI with cdrdao.

Solution: The best and recommended solution is to enable ide-scsi (SCSI
emulation) for all devices. This way you won't have any problems.

----------------------------------------------------

Now, if test the package DVD+RW-TOOLS... something strange happened !!

[root@linux i386]# rpm -q dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-2.i386.rpm

package dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-2.i386.rpm is not installed

[root@linux i386]# rpm -i dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-2.i386.rpm

package dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-2 is already installed

[root@linux i386]#

--------------------------------------------------------------

????

Thanks for your help

Stephane
