playing video file

I'm having a mpeg video file downloaded to my home directory...it's showing
some extension m1v something liek that. If i try to open it i'm getting an
error message "Nautilus has no installed viewer capable of displaying
"/home/bf0181106/dog1[1][1].mpg_1.m1v". Could anyone kindly give me a
guidance how to pla ythe movie file.
