MySQL?

I have been trying to play around with Lazarus. It apparently doesn't
play well with MySQL 3.23, so I have upgraded to MySQL 4.0. But the
libmysqlclient.so.n.n.n (n equates to some version number) file didn't
install.

I have tried going back and installing MySQL-client-4.0 and
MySQL-Develop-4.0 and I still don't have the file.

After each install, I do the following:

slocate -u (as root)
locate libmysql

What exactly do I need to do to get this file on my system?
