Hi Joan,
I'm a newbie linux user but I'm so proud today to be able to help you! I
also have an EPIA mobo and the problem you're describing is well known
and is coming from the Cyberblade video card on the EPIA. I got this
problem yesterday, did some research on the net and got the solution.
Here it is:
There is a file called libvgahw.a that is corrupted (or not working) in
the distribution and the Cyberblade video card is not able to display X
in Fedora Core 4 properly because of it. This file is located in
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/ (or something like that)
In order to fix the bug, this file has to be replaced by the equivalent
file compiled with the Fedora Core 3 version. You'll be able to find the
good file here: ftp://people.redhat.com/mharris/libvgahw.a
I strongly recommend you to read to complete story here:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=161242
Hope this helps,
AJ
