I got it to work this time (using Windows boot manager). I was pretty close
before, just a bit unsure how it all works. Thanks for taking the time to
explain it so many times. I think I am past the confusion of the device
naming.
I have not been able to make the grub boot floppy work, but maybe that is
just not that important.
Windows XP recovery console (fixmbr) got rid of grub from my primary HD.
The main reason I wanted to get rid of it as boot manager is that I can't
remove my second HD (the one with linux and grub.conf) and still boot to
Windows (at least that is the problem I had before). Now I can boot with or
without the Linux drive in the system (of course, I can't boot to Linux
without the Linux drive).
