Sorry, can't help here.
FYI: Red Hat Linux 9 is old and no longer supported by Red Hat, support
ended over a year and half ago. Please consider upgrading even if you have
a commercial support issue. As a suggestion consider (primarily because of
the tape drive query) CentOS as a replacement; http://www.centos.org/
