Does the Gnome splash screen even come up? Try creating a new fresh
user (one that has never logged into KDE) and try a Gnome login that
way. I've also seen Gnome have a tough time loading if /etc/hosts is
missing the proper line for localhost or has an incorrect entry for the
local machine IP. Also, what login manager are you using (check
/etc/sysconfig/desktop), set it to use GDM instead of KDE and try that.
So.... in a nutshell could be one of several things, I'd check what
I've noted above.... On a side note.... why have you used KDE under
Redhat first? I've found Redhat to have poor KDE implementations vs.
more KDE centric distros like Suse (Redhat is more of a Gnome centric
distro).
