Device Renaming in FC4

I recently installed a Zip drive in my linux box but I've run into a strange
problem. The hardware browser shows the drive as /dev/hdc however the fstab
file shows it as /dev/hdc4. I can edit the fstab file to /dev/hdc and log
out and back in and the drive works great. No problems until I reboot.
Then the fstab file shows the entry changed back to /dev/hdc4 again
rendering the drive useless. Does anyone have a solution to either keep the
fstab file as I have left it or change the device name so that the hardware
browser reports it as hdc4.
