New Linux server suggestions

We are getting ready to replace our generic Linux email server (also
provides our dns, firewall, internet etc...). It is an older white box
tower, and we are wanting to upgrade to a rack mount server. It also
runs spamasassin, and squirelmail. Our users pretty much all use
Outlook and download their mail via pop3. A few of us use strictly
squirelmail.

We have looked a bit at generic vs. name brand and I guess are leaning
towards something along the lines of a Dell PowerEdge 2850. I am open
to white box suggestions from those of you that don't believe in paying
for a name.

We had been looking at purchasing a barracuda spam/virus server, but I
figured if I am getting a new email server, why not roll those
functions onto that box instead of running two devices?

Assuming we continue to use POP3.... I'm looking for suggestions on
what software might fit us best. Not looking for a FREE solution,
looking for a GOOD solution that requires little admin on my part (I
gave up on spamassasin). So I am willing to purchase software or pay
for subscriptions or updates if need be. I am asking for suggestions
as I am only knowledgable in linux enough to be dangerous. I will be
having someone configure this server for me, but I will do the admin
for the most part (email setup, dns updates, etc...).

We want:
1. Anti-virus with automatic vendor updates. Preferably something that
informs the recipient that an attachment has been blocked.
2. Anti-spam with auto updates as well as configurable by us
(whitelists, etc...) *spamassasin has been failry worthless to us as
our filters were not well setup*

Along with email, DNS, firewall, a GUI interface (to fall back on),
webmail (squirelmail is fine), but that stuff should be available in
redhat or anything we go with I assume.

I am hoping to spend < $4,000 on this new server w/ software.

I don't want a spam/virus solution that is hosted like appriver. Our
company kind of rejects hosted type stuff like that. So we need to
plan to do it in-house.

On another note, should I also be considering adding anti-virus on my
clients as well? I allow outlook to block harmful attachments
currently, and rely on user training to avoid things like zip files
that outlook doesn't block. In the past 7 years we have only had a few
virus "incidents" requiring fixing a PC, or taking email off line for a
short period (not sure if we have been lucky or good considering we
really run no anti-virus). Is virus protection at the email server
enough these days? It's not like you see infected floppies running
around anymore.

Thanks in advance!
