Hi,
I just installed FC4 and the printer driver for my networked Lexmark
C760. I set up a printer device and a printer queue for the device
using Lexmark's lexprint utility. However, I can't print anything -
not a test page, not a document - nada.
I can "ping" the printer and "finger info@printeraddress" just fine.
I'm thinking that I might not have the printer "port" enabled
somewhere. I've disabled the firewall and disabled the SELinux
security, but same problem. Is there a setting in some .conf file or
some-such to turn on the ports that printer communicate over?
Note that I'm on a private network behind a linksys router, if it
matters. Note also that this printer was working fine under Win2K and
the corresponding verison of Lexmark's printer drivers.
Any ideas?
I assume you have a print server installed on your printer because you
spoke of enabling the port...
alright, what you need to do is this:
- you need to choose to install 'Networked UNIX (LPD)' as your queue type.
- then enter the IP address of the printer on the 'Server' field
(the IP address can be obtained by checking your router for attached
devices)
- enter 'lp' on the Queue field
- just follow the instructions to complete the process.
good luck ;-)
