How To Change File Type Coloring Used in ls?

On FC4, directories are listed in a dark blue. If one uses
a black background (as I do), this is hard to see. But
I don't see any way to change the coloring scheme used
by ls, other than specifying ls --color=never, which is
undesirable since color information is very useful.
So, how does one change the coloring scheme used by ls?
