It is not clear exactly what you are doing here physically. Consider the problem being procedural rather than in the software.

Are you removing and reinserting the disk between runs? By some chance is it being automounted? (I haven't figured out how to stop KDE from automounting and I would like to.)

Or does it need to be opened and closed to start over and you are not?

Is this happening while you are testing the script or in actual use?

Also have you googled the make and model of burner to see if it has any quirks?
