What locale (local language) do you want to use? en_US? ru?
something else?
Check the file "/etc/sysconfig/i18n" to see what language your system
is set to use. On my system, this looks like this:
$ cat /etc/sysconfig/i18n
LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"
If your system isn't usable enough to check this file, put install
CD #1 (or the rescue CD) in and boot the system. At the boot prompt,
instead of typing a simple ENTER, type:
boot> linux rescue
When you are asked if you want to have your hard drive filesystems
mounted under "/sysimage", answer "yes" to allow it. Once you get
into a shell prompt, you can do this:
# cd /sysimage/etc/sysconfig
# cat i18n
If the file contents are weird, use your favorite editor to correct
it.
Of course, you must have already installed your desired languages
when you installed FC5 -- contrary to what you may find on the web,
adding support for a new language can only be done at system install
time.
