I'm a newbye with Linux. Last week I installed FedoraCore5 and I'm very
glad about it. But I've the following problem and I'm here to ask for
some usefull suggestions about the way to solve it.
FC5 doesn't see an internal modem card that is SoftK56/
Rockwell-Conexant Voice/Data/Fax/speakerphone : I do not want such a
modem running, At this moment I would be glad to see FC5 check that the
modem ...exist.
The same happens with an external modem www.chronos.com.tw Smartscm/56.
I know the difficulty to have such winmodem running the right way : I
only desire FC5 tell me that the modem exist.

Every modem I had had been Serial based, none of the Windows "Winmodems", all worked fine. ... If you are using a "winmodem", its not FC5 fault that it could not detect it, but rather the vendor will not release chip specs to anyone other than M$. ... It's capable of serial-port or USB. ... Re: external modem in FC5 ... He has an external modem connected to his serial port which worked ... What software might I use in FC5 to work with this modem?... Can he install... (comp.os.linux.setup)
