FC5 uses the "udev" facility to assign device names (/dev/foo) to

Here's how to find out what to add:
Open a terminal window and, as root:
# tail -f /var/log/messages
and then insert the USB-DB9 adaptor. Watch the message log to see
how the device gets identified. Then, using the hints from those
messages, add a new rule file into the "/etc/udev/rules.d" directory.
Hey;
Thanks; that's the info I needed. Apparently those bright people at
Redhat already have the rule for the db9 serial port because when I
plugged it in, it generated /dev/ttyUSB0 - regardless of which usb port
I plugged it into. That makes the minicom easy to configure.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
