Hi, I'm fairly new to Linux and I was hoping that someone could explain to me, as one would to a complete layman, how I would go about installing a program from the source code.
What I do after 'untarring' or 'unzipping' it, and what I need to do in order to succesfully install the program, and where I will be installing it. I'm running FC 4 on i386.
Also there is a generic problem with the INSTALL files when they are nonstandard.
The author takes the standard INSTALL text, most are standard, and makes very minor changes BUT does not highlight those changes and makes such small changes that you may not notice them.
People who write C usually do not write English very well ... rather they write English like C expecting you to diff the standard and their file to see the differences.
