I've just installed wine as well, and have managed to get 1 simple program working (scrabout), but more complex programs (excel) no luck.

The missing dlls are for the program you're trying to load, not wine. You have to provide them, (from windows), and install them in my case into the ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32 file.
