Correct me if I'm wrong. The max speed of your hub/router/etc is going
to determine the max bandwidth, not how many nics you have connected.

It would determine that speed per port. If you have two NICs acting as a
single interface you double your potential bandwidth.

I mean if all the traffic is going to the same subnet, I don't see how
there's gonna be a bandwidth increase; wouldn't that be like saying I
could take 10-100baseT nics, connect them to my 100mbit router and get a
gigabit out of it?

There won't be a speed increase to any single port so if you're talking
about a single client machine you won't see an improvement.

But, if you're talking about fifty client machines all talking at the same
time you will definitely see improvement.

It's the difference between a single lane road and a four lane highway...
even though the speed limit may be 55mph on both roads the four lane
highway will handle four times the traffic.
