I have 2 available routes to the Internet. From a default routing standpoint,
I'd normally like to run everything over the large pipe, and fail over to the smaller one.

What Linux software is used nowadays to do that automatically ?

I think that it used to be "gated", which around 1999 became commercialized and licensed.

You can use quagga (www.quagga.net) if Your ISPs can provide You dynamic
routing protocols.
