Re: Mono on Fedora Core 5

I am new in Linux. I usually do .NET development using .NET 2.0 in
Windows. Now I cannot install MonoDevelop on FC5.

I am running FC5 on VMware Player on Windows XP. I just installed it
several days ago and did some updates such as gtk and Firefox using
Software Updater.

I put mono.repo (direct to the stable release) in /etc/yum.repos.d/
directory and use Software Updater to install mono. That's fine and I
can compile and run .NET app in a termial.

Then I downloaded monodevelop-0.11-0.novell.noarch.rpm. When I install
it, I will get an error resolving dependencies:

Missing Dependency: mono(gtk-sharp) = 2.4.0.0 is needed by package
monodevelop
Missing Dependency: mono(pango-sharp) = 2.4.0.0 is needed by package

gtksourceview-sharp2
Missing Dependency: mono(gtk-sharp) = 2.4.0.0 is needed by package

And I try to use yum to get som information about mono and gtk.

Is it because MonoDevelop depends on a lower version of gtk while I
have updated gtk to a higher version? Is there any way to resolve
this?
Thanks!

Blackpuppy,

It looks like you need a higher version of mono.

Are trying to mix SuSe rpms with FC5 rpms? This sometimes leads to version mismatches, because SuSe and Red Hat have different channels to the community. Sometimes SuSe gets the new version before Red Hat or visa versa.
