Just saying that it may discourage SOME people from downloading.
The average user seems to want 8 tons of eye-candy crap that looks just like
windoze. The popular distributors are just giving the customer what they
want. Do you have any idea how bloated KDE and Gnome are? No one is forcing
you to install everything. It's actually possible to install from a single
CD (although the stuff _you_ want to install may be scattered on different
CDs because what _you_ want may not match what _other_ people want). You can
always download the packages individually or even do an FTP install, which
minimizes unwanted downloads.
