Hey Moe, I took a look at your posting headers, and see
you are using 'slrn'.

Yeah - been using it since slrn-0.8.6 - back in Red Hat 3.0.3 in 1996.

I just compiled it and gave it a shot. I got real edgy
in about 15 seconds, due to it's being curses/keyboard
based rather than GUI/mouse based.

Well, remember I am a command line dinosaur. GUI? Sorry, a mouse is a
device used to point at the xterm you want to type in.

Seriously, there is a configuration variable in Thunderbird that allows
you to set a line width - it might be in one of the editor functions.

I get the same sort of boxed-in feeling when
using Solaris again, after using Linux so long.

I hate Sloaris - probably because I spent so many years on SunOS. On Open
Look, I could never get a wide enough terminal (some of the stuff I was
doing needed lines up to 850 characters wide).

P.S. I finally threw out the DEC VT100 terminal that was
in the closet, after it sat there idle 20 years taking up
space.

Hopefully, you sold it on eBay - there are people actually looking for those.

I remember when 19200 baud was blindingly fast.

My secondary file server at home is a 486DX-33, and it still has our first
modem in it... a 1200 BPS Hayes clunker on a full sized ISA card. I don't
know why I've left it in there, as there is no phone line near, and in any
case the box is used for more important things (giving the cat a warm and
comfortable place to sleep on). I'm not sure how many dial-ins are even
compatible with v.22 any more.
