problem is.
I heard somethin about Real player having been written in gcc 3.2 and
that Red hat was written in a higher version. Could someone provide me
with a solution to this problem?

I've had realplayer working in various Fedora installs, but I now use Mplayer. If you go download either the rpm or source, before you install the rpm or compile visit the Mplayer site and download all of the codecs. They must be present prior to installation. Also, be sure to download the gui version ("mplayer-gui" as I recall). This gives you all the hooks and codecs to play virtually any kind of multimedia stream (there are a few that still don't work).
