Fatal error while installing RH 9 names glibc-common-
- From: mailbox@xxxxxxxxxxx

I tried to do a fresh installation of RH 9 on
a cleanly-formatted partition on a new hard drive
in a new PC and got a fatal error that named
glibc-common- in an error message that said possible
hardware error or lack of disk space, both of
which seem implausible, considering that
I've just installed Windows XP sucessfully on
the same box.
I had chosen the "Custom" installation option and then
selected no packages. When I last installed Linux long
ago (RH 6) this would get me the minimum initial system
I wanted, just enough to boot Linux from a floppy and
execute some basic Unix commands in command-line
mode. Then I could go back and upgrade to my preferred
degree of completeness.
Any ideas on what happened this time would be
appreciated. A search of this newsgroup turned up
a number of threads about glibc-common- but they
didn't seem to have any bearing on my problem.
