is there any way to check the license number that is associated with my
server? I have x server and on www.redhat.com/renew i can't see the hostname
that is associated with the license.

Licenses (as you call them, Red Hat calls them subsciptions) form a pool.
With up2date --register you register your server to RHN (rhn.redhat.com)
and add an entitlement to the server's profile based on the pool of
'licenses' you have added to your userid.
